A member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, it has become renowned for conserving endangered animals native to Eastern Himalayan regions.

One of the park's greatest achievements has been to foster one of the largest conserved populations of snow leopards worldwide in its leopard breeding centre. Furthermore, beyond stunning exhibits and displays, it also actively raises public awareness on wildlife preservation through various campaigns, making it an informative and immersive destination for visitors looking for ways to connect with nature.

Protecting Himalayan fauna and ecological resources

Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park was first founded in 1958 with an aim of studying and safeguarding Himalayan fauna, before undergoing transformation in 1972 when it officially registered as a society. By 1975 it had officially changed to Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park. This internationally recognized institution has made significant strides toward conservation through its captive breeding programs for critically endangered species like snow leopards and red pandas.

As part of their dedication to wildlife preservation efforts, the park was honoured with "The Earth Heroes" award in 2014. Beyond their conservation efforts, this park serves as an ecological hotspot that attracts environmentalists and nature enthusiasts from around the globe. Nestled deep within the Himalayas, it showcases spectacular wildlife while providing visitors with an in-depth connection to nature - making it a must-visit destination.
