A sanctuary of biodiversity
The Silent Valley National Park is situated across a vast area measuring 89.52 square kilometres within the Nilgiri Hills, in the Western Ghats. Several parts of the Western Ghats have been declared as a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the verdant expanse it encompasses, the sanctuary provides habitat for an array of wildlife, including 34 distinct species of mammals, 300 avian species, 30 reptilian varieties, and 500 species of moths and butterflies. The white-bellied blue flycatcher can also be spotted in the region.
The park provides organised expert-led excursions through wilderness, bird observation tours and hiking expeditions.
