Pune's Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park opened to both tourists and nature enthusiasts alike in 1999, offering them an exhilarating journey into wildlife. Boasting around 66 different animal species such as majestic tigers, royal lions, curious bears, graceful deer, vibrant bird species as well as conservation efforts actively being pursued, it provides an idyllic natural haven dedicated to conservation efforts.

Travel back in time

Land now used by the park had an eventful past before becoming a zoological park. Formerly home to farmland and stone quarries, in 1970 the government recognized its ecological importance by declaring it protected forest area; later during the 1990s their vision to establish a world-class zoo became reality, culminating in its public opening in 1999.
