Prepare to discover the splendour of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, that covers an area of 321 square kilometres across three states in South India. The reserve is known for its variety of habitats ranging from tropical forests and wetlands, as well as being home to a large number of tigers!

Mudumalai Tiger Reserve lies about 68 kilometres southwest of Ooty in the Nilgiris District. The reserve provides homes to more than just these magnificent big cats. It boasts of an abundance of wildlife, such as leopards, sloth bears and, elephants. The Tiger Reserve is home to over 260 species of birds, such as Malabar grey hornbill, Malabar pied hornbill and Malabar laughing thrush, making it a delight for birdwatchers.

Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, is an important part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and offers sanctuary to various forms of wildlife such as tigers and elephants, among other creatures. Established in 1972 by the Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala state governments, Mudumalai has gained even greater attention after the Academy Award-winning documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ was shot there.
