Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary covers an 82.72 square kilometer area and serves as one of the world's largest habitats for these incredible animals, known for their remarkable adaptability. Living amongst rocky terrains, they thrive due to their remarkable adaptability. Their survival coupled with the conservation efforts has earned the sanctuary numerous accolades such as winning National Award for Best Ecotourism Destination 2018. It also hosts diverse ecosystems that welcome leopards, hyenas and an abundance of bird species including rare ones such as Indian pangolin, Indian Eagle Owl or painted spurfowl - creating a truly magnificent ecosystem for life to flourish here on our planet!

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary's extraordinary tale has touched audiences worldwide, captivating audiences worldwide with an award-winning short film for children named 'Daroji', to educate them about this sanctuary.
Attractions at the sanctuary include "Sweet Lick", where forest department staff tempt bears with honey-coated rocks that have an irresistibly sweet aroma, luring them closer. A unique feature at Sweet Lick is when forest department employees use this method to attract bears with sweet treats, the echoing slurping sound is heard up to 100 metres away as these gentle giants feast upon them!
Karnataka Forest Department goes beyond conservation initiatives to also support community involvement in its endeavors. Soliga tribe, previously dependent upon forest hunting for sustenance, now enjoy sustainable livelihood thanks to tribal rehabilitation program. Engaging local residents with conservation efforts creates a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
