Where nature's melody unfolds

Rajaji National Park, nestled in the Shivalik Range and named for C. Rajagopalachari (Rajaji), an iconic freedom fighter and later Governor-General of independent India, offers visitors a captivating sanctuary to take refuge from everyday life and explore. Established in 1983 and covering an area of 820.42 sq. km across three Uttarakhand districts: Haridwar, Dehradun and Pauri Garhwal districts respectively - Chilla Motichur Rajaji earned Tiger Reserve status in 2015 with an expanded area of 1075 square kilometres!

As you explore Rajaji National Park, its breathtaking Shivalik formations unfold like an artist's canvas. Lush forests house Shivalik biodiversity - making this sanctuary a haven of diverse ecosystems ranging from Moist Shivalik Sal Forest and Northern Dry Mixed Deciduous Khair-Sissoo forests to Low Alluvial Savannah Woodlands along the southern margins - each step unveiling another facet of nature's masterpiece.

A haven for wildlife

Rajaji National Park is a haven for wildlife, home to over 50 mammal species such as Asiatic Elephants and Tigers that roam freely throughout its landscapes. Additionally, over 300 bird species make their home here, with about 90 migrating visitors regularly stopping by Bhimgora, Virbhadra Barrage, and Ganges' Wetlands for rest or recreation.

Stories of wonder and transformation

Behind every feat lies a narrative. Rajaji National Park's creation was no different: legend tells that when Governor-General Rajaji was invited for a hunt in this region, its beautiful biodiversity moved him so deeply that instead of hunting it off he proposed creating a wildlife sanctuary as a tribute to its inherent charm and allure.

Within the park's embrace lies another remarkable tale--how collaboration and concerted efforts overcame a risky railway track which once ran through its sanctuary and put wildlife lives at risk.

Embrace the spiritual serenity

Explore Har Ki Pauri, considered to be the divine landing site for Gods on Earth; or take a dip in Brahmakund for some serious soul searching and spiritual growth.

Vishnu Ghat holds great spiritual significance among Vaishnavites who visit to offer prayers at its Vishnu temple and bathe in the sacred Ganges where Lord Vishnu is said to have bathed. Pay your respects to Goddess Chandika at this temple where she bravely battled demon kings to restore divine balance - making this one of five Panch Tirth in Holy City with special Shakti Peeth status, this site holds immense spiritual significance.

Assembled atop Bilwa Parvat, this temple serves as an oasis for devotees seeking fulfilment of their wishes. Visitors tie threads on trees in the temple premises and when their desires have come true, they return to untie the thread--an amazing ritual symbolising faith and gratitude. For an extraordinary experience visit Chilla Forest Rest House--an old British-style bungalow constructed in 1883 that's run by Haridwar Eco-development Committee that connects back into Haridwar Park's past colonial history.

Navigate your way to Rajaji National Park and experience an adventure where nature and spirituality collide - where wild meets divine in an idyllic sanctuary that will live long in your memory. Find solace here as you create lasting memories in a place you will always hold dear in your heart.
