As you step into Surajpur Wetland's 308 hectares natural expanse, discover its lush expanse filled with lakes, marshes and delicate islands nurtured by the gentle flow of the Hindon River, you'll encounter its captivating tapestry of large lakes, marshes and islands nourished by this river. Here, a waterfowl paradise unfurls, welcoming ducks, geese, herons egrets and storks. Also, discover an underwater realm containing fish and aquatic creatures as well as aquatic creatures residing. The wetland's impressive avian tapestry holds 180 bird species from 48 families including Asian Openbill Storks, White-necked Storks, Black Crown Night Herons; while mammals such as Nilgai Indian Grey Mongoose Indian Hare Golden Jackal and Five-striped Squirrel roam its grounds.

Surajpur Wetland currently provides residence to 102 species, 53 winter migrants, 28 summer migrants and three passage migrant bird species. Additionally, its vibrant tapestry also boasts six mammals, 15 fish, 11 herpeto-fauna and 52 butterfly species - not forgetting six mammal species, 15 fish species, 11 herpeto-fauna and 52 butterfly species! It is both a sanctuary for endangered species and water storage haven; as you traverse its trails, its wetland becomes both classroom lessons on wetland ecosystems as well as experiences like bird watching or boating trips!
