Ousteri Wetland and National Park will captivate you with its splendor: South India's largest coastal lagoon covering 1,565 hectares! Home to over 100 bird species that migrate all the way from Siberia and Australia; as well as fish, crustaceans and mammals such as smooth-coated otters, fishing cats and mongooses - in 2019 Ousteri was honored with Ramsar site designation to recognize its status as an internationally important wetland.

Over its history, Ousteri Wetland and National Park has also played host to cinematic masterpieces, with several Bollywood and Hollywood movies -- such as Oscar winner "Life of Pi" -- having been shot there. Additionally, Ousteri's rich heritage of commercial salt production dates back to French colonial era times; today it continues providing high-grade salt for domestic as well as international markets.
