Celebrated annually on April 18, World Heritage Day is observed worldwide to raise awareness about preserving cultural diversity, human heritage and the world's architectural marvels. Also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites, it features a new theme every year. For 2020, the theme is 'Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility'.

As the world is fighting COVID 19, the idea of this theme is to connect people from inside locked doors, and unite them in the common cause of sharing cultures, heritage and responsibility.

From video conferences, webinars, poster presentations, press releases and virtual round tables to online lectures, live streams, virtual visits to heritage sites and social media campaigns, participants are exploring new ways to celebrate World Heritage Day this year. The World Heritage Day is organised by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
