Localizado a las afueras de Mathure, Mahavan es popular por el santuario de Mathuranath. Se dice que fue fundado por Nanda, el padre adoptivo de Krishna. Tiene un racimo de exuberantes bosques, y es también conocido como Brindavan, Gokul y Mahaban. Mahavan es definitivamente bello, permitiendo a los visitantes un respiro del calor y el ruido de la ciudad, explorando el lugar en que se dice que Lord Krishna pasó su infancia. Tiene un templo de Chhathi-Palana, que solía ser el palacio residencial de la madre de Baldeo, Rohini. Mahavan tiene varios santuarios y templos, incluyendo a Yogmaya, Tranairatri, Shymlaji, Raskhan Samadhi, Raman Reti, Brahmand Ghat, Chintaharan Mahadev y el palacio Mahamall Rai Ji.
