Perched at a height ranging from 1,200 to 1,800 m above sea level, Kausani Tea Estate is a serene stopover that should not be missed. The lush green estate is majestically sprawled over 208 acre and divided into 21 divisions. One can find wonderfully-flavourful organic orthodox tea that has great demand even outside the country. The famous and exotic Giriha’s tea is made from the tea produced here. For those who are interested, visits to the factory to observe the various manufacturing processes can be arranged. The tea garden is located centrally and a number of popular hotels are nearby. This means that it is possible for tourists to take small treks and reach the tea garden on foot. A short drive of 5 km on the Bageshwar road from Kausani takes one to the famous Tea Garden.

Pinnath-trek

Located on the outskirts of Kausani, Pinnath is a sleepy village that hides a wave of adventure in its folds. A trek to Pinnath is a panacea for all city stress and is defined by the wilderness of nature punctuated only by the gentle murmur of the Kosi river flowing nearby. Another interesting stopover can be the Bhairon Temple, whose walls and doors are decorated with beautifully painted images of local kings and the Pandavas of the epic Mahabharata. The temple in itself is a sight to behold as it is nestled in the foothills of the Gopalkot Peak, overlooking Kosi valley. The village also hosts a grand fair annually in the month of October, which attracts a large number of visitors from the nearby villages and is an experience of a lifetime.

Rudradhari Falls and Caves

The name of the falls and caves is believed to have been derived from a combination of the names of Lord Shiva, called Rudra, and the name of Lord Vishnu, called Hari. The Rudradhari Falls is surrounded by emerald paddy fields and pine greens, making it a breathtaking spot to admire natural beauty and picnic. Tourists can also trek to the Rudradhari Caves that offer a different terrain for adventure. While trekking to Adi Kailash, one can explore many ancient caves. There are shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu that should not be missed. The Shiva temple of Someshwar is only a short distance away from the waterfalls. A popular route to take for visiting the falls is to travel till Kantali village, which is 2 km away, and then trekking up from there. The falls is located 12 km away from Kausani on the Kausani-Almora road and is easily accessible.
