Literally meaning a thousand springs, Sahastradhara waterfalls is one of most popular tourist spots around Dehradun. A group of several falls, Sahastradhara lies on the Baldi river. Water drips into these pools from limestone stalacites and the total expanse of the falls is about 9 m. It is believed that the water contains medicinal properties that can heal ailments like acne, arthritis, muscle ache and poor blood circulation. This has led to a popular belief that bathing in these waters is auspicious. The best time to visit the waterfalls is in monsoons when it flows in all its glory.
Visitors can head to the ropeway located nearby, which takes them to a high vantage point, from where they can avail breathtaking views of the surroundings. One can also visit the Joyland Water Park nearby.
