A popular holy site, Sivagiri Mutt is the headquarters of the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham, an organisation founded by reformer Sree Narayana Guru's followers and disciples. Sivagiri Mutt is sprawled over a lush green area of 200 acre on top of Sivagiri Hill. Its architecture is unique, particularly its multi-tiered white terraces. Many believe that this hermitage was the place where Sree Narayana Guru lived most of his life and breathed his last in 1928. His samadhi and personal belongings have also been displayed at the site. The main festivals celebrated here are Guru Deva Jayanti, in August, and Guru Deva Samadhi, in September, every year. The hermitage invites devotees from far and wide during the Sivagiri Pilgrimage that is conducted annually between December 30 and January 1.
