Being the only crocodile project in West Bengal, the Bhagabatpur Crocodile Project has emerged as an important tourist site. It is located on the bank of the Saptamukhi estuary, adjacent to the Lothian Island (one of the wildlife sanctuaries in the Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve). Tourists are drawn to this place not just for the hatchery of estuarine crocodile and Batagur Baska species of tortoise, but also for the amazingly dense mangrove forest at the confluence of Saptamukhi river system. The natural beauty of this place is equally inviting. The project houses crocodiles of varying ages. Though this place is easily accessible through Namkhana, one can also visit it from Sajnekhali. Undoubtedly, it provides one with once in a lifetime experiences that are not easy to forget.
