The home of Bajirao II, the last Peshwa of the 19th century, this three-storeyed building is also known as Teen Chowki Wada. He stayed here for almost 11 years, until he was finally defeated in battle. Spread over an impressive area of 20,000 sq ft, it has a wooden façade and solid teak columns, which add a charm to the building. In October 1880, it was destroyed in a fire but was soon rebuilt with public as well as municipal support. It is home to a mini museum with Maratha artefacts – the collection of one of the historians of Maratha origin. Vishrambaug Wada functioned as the Poona corporation office till 1958, and currently has a post office on the ground floor.
