Around 25 km from Pune, the Chintamani Mandir of Theur is one of the eight ashtavinayak temples, dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This temple is flanked by the waters of River Mula on three sides while its entrance faces the northern direction. Wood was used to make the generous main hall of the structure. There is also a pretty fountain here, along with a huge bell, hanging from the ceiling. In the large temple sits the idol of Lord Ganesha, cross-legged, with its trunk toward the left. A large fair is organised on Ganesh Utsav, which is held in the month of Bhadrapad (August or September) and in the month of Magh (January or February).
