The highest peak of Shimoga district situated at a height of 1,340 m above sea level, Kodachadri is an attractive tourist spot. Lying at the heart of the picturesque Mookambika National Park, one can spot a variety of flora and fauna here, along with enchanting views of sunrises and sunsets. The main attraction of Kodachadri is Sarvajna Peetha, a temple dedicated to philosopher Adi Shankaracharya, that sits on the hilltop. It is believed that Shankaracharya performed meditation at this place. Tourists can also visit the Moola Mookambika Temple, dedicated to ancient mother Goddess Mookambika.

 

The hills of Kodachadri invite trekkers for their scenic trails, and the Arisinagudi Waterfalls and the Agastya Teertha Waterfalls make for beautiful natural spots along the way. The best time to visit Kodachadri is from October to March.
