Badshah Tomb

The Badshah Tomb marks the final resting place of the mother of the famous ruler of Kashmir, Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin (1421 AD to 1474 AD), in Srinagar. It has been erected on the plinth of an old Buddhist temple. An unusual five-domed brick structure, it is considered a unique piece of architecture, dating back to the 15th century. There are claims that it looks more like a structure from the Byzantine empire. The tomb is a peaceful place and provides a great view of the surrounding greenery from the top. When seen from the new Zaina Kadal (bridge), the city's oldest bridge, it forms an important part of the classic view of Old Town Srinagar.

River Jhelum flows near the Badshah Tomb. It is believed that Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin deliberately had the tomb erected next to a water body as per traditional Muslim beliefs and traditional ceremonies, rites and rituals.

Ziarat of Baba Reshi

Ziarat of Baba Reshi is a shrine located below the slopes of Gulmarg. It is the tomb of a famous Muslim saint, Baba Payam-Uddin, who died in 1480. The shrine was built in the 13th century. The saint is said to be a former courtier of the Kashmir king, Zain-ul-Abidin. Later on, he renounced his worldly ties and adopted sainthood after closely observing ants hard at work one day. The shrine is quite popular among devotees who come here in flocks. It can be reached both from Gulmarg and Tangmarg, and is situated at a height of 7,000 ft.

The shrine boasts some attractive woodwork and is famous for granting the wish for children. Thus, it is thronged by childless women who cry and offer prayers here. As per tradition, the children thus born have to take a vow of celibacy and stay attached to the shrine for life.

Kanchenjunga Museum

Though the museum was developed as a high-altitude warfare school initially, it was later set up to commemorate the first summit of Indian Army to Kanchenjunga in 1997. The museum houses excellent displays of modern warfare, mountaineering equipment and gear used in mountains by the Indian Army. Other expeditions like the first successful expedition to the Everest have been given a due place here. The museum is a symbol of respect for the Indian Army and shows how the soldiers spend their lives while guarding the borders of the nation. Some of the equipment housed here includes rope, grappling tool etc. One can also learn about the usage and function of these from the information provided on the plaques kept beneath the displays.
