Losar or the Ladakhi new year is celebrated with music, dance and merrymaking. Falling around the time of the winter solstice, this festival is observed by Ladakhi Buddhists by making offerings to the Gods Goddesses, both in the gompas and in their domestic shrines. The festivities are said to last 15 days with the first 3 days being most significant.
