Breathtaking beauty, picturesque backdrops and the majestic snow-covered Himalayan peaks make Aru Valley among the most beautiful locations in Kashmir. The village is also a starting point for trekking to Kolahoi glacier. Thrill-seekers and adventurers can also take a trek up to Sonmarg, which takes about three days. There is a good camping site beside the valley, which enjoys a cool and pleasant weather in summers. During winters, when the land freezes over, the village becomes a skiing paradise. The best time to visit the place is from March to November.

Aru Valley is located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, about 12 km from Pahalgam and about 11 km upstream from the Lidder river. The drive up to the village is an unforgettable experience.
