Situated in Garoth town of Mandsaur district, the cave temple of Dharmrajeshwar is noted for its architecture and religious significance. Built in the 9th century, this monolithic temple has been constructed using solid natural rock. Interestingly, its architecture can be compared to the gorgeous Kailash Temple of Ellora. The temple has been carved out of a rock that was 50 m high and 20 m wide. The main temple that houses a shivalinga and a statue of Lord Vishnu is surrounded by seven smaller shrines. Figures of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi have been engraved in the frame of the entrance of the main temple. The smaller temples carry statues of Lord Bhairava, Goddess Kali, Lord Shiva, Garuda (mythical bird) and Goddess Parvati.
