An extension of the picturesque Eastern Ghats, the Jawadhu Hill range holds many scenic sights, the most prominent of which is the majestic Beemanmadavu Waterfalls. Also called Bheema Falls, it is best visited during monsoons, when it flows in all its glory. The hills are a delight for adventure lovers who can indulge in activities like trekking, hiking and camping. Tourists can also visit the Kavalur Observatory that has a public telescope through which you can scour the skies. However, the viewing is only open on Saturdays after 7 pm. Another attraction nearby is the pristine Komutteri Kolappan Lake, which is the largest waterfront in the hills. Surrounded by a picturesque landscape, the lake provides the perfect environment to indulge in recreational activities like boating and angling. The lake also hosts a man-made island at its centre that is a great natural retreat.
