On the banks of holy river Narmada lies the regal town of Maheshwar, city of philosopher queen, Ahilya Bai Holkar. Her philanthropy reflected in the construction of several temples, ghats, wells, tanks and rest-houses stretching across the length of the country. Apart from this, she invited master weavers from Surat and South India to initiate and establish the famous Maheshwari weaves.
