If you’re living in South Goa, private and public transport facilities are available to various city bus stops at KTC terminus, the next two located near Kamat Hotel and SBI bank in the main city. But it’s advisable to get your own transport, depending on the amount of distance you’ll be covering on your South Goa trail. Since the monuments are a fair distance apart, walking or depending on local conveyance is not always a feasible option.

Stop 5 - End Chandor/ Loutolim-Rachol and the hinterland

Road trip map

Alternatively, you could choose to go to Chandor or proceed to Loutolim-Rachol. These villages are full of ancestral homes inspired by Portuguese architecture. You will be struck by the charm of the village scenery. The landscapes are also spectacular, with mighty rivers, bright green fields, and the ubiquitous coconut trees. And the best is: you will be far away from the crowds, mostly alone with nature. Driving through the tiny roads of Goa’s hinterland will give you a true feeling of Goan life.

In Loutolim you may want to visit the Ancestral Goa Museum. It’s filled with artifacts of Goa’s past and takes you on a walk down memory lane. The museum is particularly known for the largest sculpture of Sant Mirabai located within the premises.
