One of the seven hills that ring the hill station of Shimla, Elysium stands towards the north-western fringes of the city. An amazing vantage point to get a bird's eye view of the city, it is the highest point in Shimla. Steeped in colonial charm, it boasts the popular British era Auckland House, which once served as the residence of the then viceroy, Lord Auckland. Set amidst tall deodars and rhododendrons, the more than 150-year-old building makes for an enchanting sight. It has now been converted into Auckland House Girls  School, lovingly referred to as A lucky. There's also an orphanage located nearby that offers shelter to Tibetan kids. The hill lies on the road leading to the Lakkar Bazaar. This gorgeous hill is also home to the Longwood residential locality.
