Set against the sun-kissed Panchachuli peaks, a group of five snow-capped Himalayan peaks, quaint Munsiyari leaves you in awe of its natural beauty. Situated on the banks of Goriganga river, Munsiyari (literally meaning a place with snow) freezes over in winters, portraying a postcard-perfect charm. A haven for adventure lovers and high-altitude trekkers, Munsiyari, perched at a height of 2,298 m, is also a favoured skiing spot. Echoing with serenity and charm, Munsiyari or Little Kashmir (as it is often called) acts as a base camp for trekkers who want to explore the pristine Milam and Ralam Glaciers and the majestic Nanda Devi peak. Sharing a border with Tibet, this hamlet has an unexplored and unspoilt beauty that appeals to the heart of offbeat travellers. The popular Khalia Top trek also starts from this picturesque point. The area is inhabited by shauka tribes and falls on the trade route to Tibet. It lies at a distance of about 135 km from Pithoragarh.
