A British-era bungalow, Galingka is one of the best locations to catch the spectacular view of the third highest peak in the world, Kanchenjunga. The structure was constructed by British wool traders to use as a rest stop during their travels from one part of India to the other. Its delicate architecture is a fine example of British skill. The bungalow lies amidst picturesque surroundings and a park near it makes for a serene picnic spot. This park, dotted with flowering plants and trees, was added to the bungalow after Kalimpong was recognised as a summer hill resort. Another British bungalow to check out on your visit is Crockety that was also built by British wool traders. Just behind it lies the house of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
