Head to the State Government and Handloom Emporium at Ritz market to shop for handicraft items, including the traditional Mizo hat made of bamboo known as Khumbeu, and exquisite bags woven with traditional patterns.

The beautifully carved caves of Mizoram invite adventure seekers from different parts of the country and are one of the most sought-after tourist spots in the Northeastern state. Well-known caves in Mizoram include Lamsial and Pukzing caves in Aizawl district and Kungawrhi Puk Cave and Milu Puk in Lunglei. The Pukzing Cave is the biggest in Mizoram and also one of the most visited. All these caves have a legend, myth or folktale attached to them. Kungawrhi Puk Cave is particularly popular and is located about 30 km from Aizawl in Ailawng near Reiek. Many believe it to be the longest cave in the state of Mizoram, about 162 m long. Thrill seekers find the darkness, peculiar acoustics and stalagmite formations particularly fascinating.

Home to several beautiful streams and rivers, Mizoram surprises tourists with a number of angling opportunities, thanks to ideal climatic conditions required for the sport. Some of the best places where you can indulge in angling are the Tamdil Lake in Aizawl and Chhimtuipui River in Saiha. While Tamdil is known for its diverse species of fish and prawns, Chhimtuipui river is known for its salmon, local trout and catfish. The best thing about trekking in Aizawl is its virgin forests that provide visitors with unspoiled vistas and scenic views. Phawngpui, declared as a national park, covers an area of about 50 sq km and the best way to explore it is by trekking. One can avail views of many beautiful flora like orchids and rhododendrons. Another offbeat trek that you can embark upon is to the beautiful villages of Reiek and Ailwang, and the entire journey takes about half an hour. The path takes one through a hillside road that winds its way through verdant forests and a series of waterfalls.
