In 1969, Nal Sarovar was declared as a bird sanctuary, including the wetlands around it. Located 60 km from Ahmedabad and sprawling over an area of 120 sq km, the lake attracts a vast variety of birds like plovers, sandpipers and stints. The grounds are a delight for bird lovers. Additionally, migratory birds like pelicans, flamingoes, ducks, demoiselle and common cranes flock here in vast numbers, during winter.
