Synonymous with a multitude of temples that dot its landscape, Jageshwar is among the prominent spiritual centres of Uttarakhand. It boasts around 124 temples, both small and large. The Dandeshwar Temple is the biggest and the most popular. Among the oldest standing structures here is the Mritunjaya Temple, which is also popular as the temple of Adi Shiva. One of the finest examples of architecture, the Jageshwar temple complex is simply beautiful with a gorgeous backdrop of rolling green mountains and the gurgling Jata Ganga stream. The town is lit up during the Jageshwar Monsoon Festival, which is held during the month of August, and the Shivaratri Mela, which is held in the spring season.

Around 3 hours away from the Jageshwar Temple is the Shiva temple inside one of the most fascinating cave systems in Uttarakhand, the Patal Bhuvaneshwar Cave. Almost 1 km long and 90 ft deep from the point of entrance, Patal Bhuvaneshwar is a fascinating cluster of caves with limestone stalactites and stalagmites.
