Celebrated three days after Good Friday, the Sunday of Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. According to the New Testament Bible, Christ came alive on this day and his resurrected form appeared to several of his believers. As per the Gospel of John, when Mary Magdalene came to the tomb where Jesus was buried, she found it empty. An angel told her that Jesus had risen.

Easter is popularly celebrated as the day of Christ's victory over death, and Christians attend church services and prayer meetings to mark the joyous event.
