A complex of seven rock-cut caves are located at Kadia Dungar near Zazpor village in Bharuch district of Gujarat. Said to be of the Kshatrap age, they are dated between the 1st and 2nd century AD. The architecture of the caves suggests they were Buddhist viharas. It is believed that wandering Buddhist monks used to rest in these caves. Monolithic lion pillars (or singha stambha) have also been found here. A brick stupa was excavated near the foothills where the caves are situated. The nearest prominent city is Vadodara, about 100 km away.
