Forts Of Solan
Arki is a small town in the Solan District; it was once the capital of the princely state of Baghal. The place has witnessed a lot of battles in the past. The Arki Fort was built by Rana Prithvi Singh between 1800 and 1805; he was a descendent of Sabha Chand. The fort is a fusion of Rajput and Mughal styles of architecture and exhibits Rajasthani aesthetics in its structure. The Arki Fort is now converted into a heritage hotel. Arki is 50 km from Solan and 43 km from ShimlaNalagarh, with its famous fort, is a gateway to Himachal Pradesh in North India, 78 km from Solan and 60 km from Chandigarh. The Fort which was built in 1421 during the reign of Raja Bikram Chand is located on a hillock at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas offering a panoramic view of the Shivalik Hills beyond the Sirsa River. The fort witnessed some events of utmost importance in history, including treaties with the Marathas and their wars with Jaipur in the 18th century. Fort Nalagarh is also converted into a luxurious heritage hotel surrounded by endless acres of greenery with all modern amenities makes it an ideal retreat from the commotion of city life.
