The Ratnadurg Fort
The ratnadurga Fort is one of the majestics forts in the State of Maharashtra. This fort was built by the Bahamanis Rulers in the 16th century, Ratnadurg Fort i later became the property of the Adil Shahis. The fort, situated at a distance of 4 km from the town center, is one of the prime attractions of Ratnagiri. The horse-shoe shaped Ratnadurg Fort is situated on a area of 120 acres, with an approximate length of 1300 m and width of 1000 m. Ratnadurg Fort is also known by the name Bhagawati Durga Fort, as it houses a shrine of Goddess Durga. The fort also has shrines to Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha.
