Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary


Situated about 10 km. from Wankaner and 60 km. from Rajkot, this sanctuary has well preserved natural terrains with hillocks surrounding arid plains distinct with wild grass. The sanctuary got the status of ‘Reserve Forest’ in the year 1983 before which it served as a shooting reserve that belonged to the former princely state of Wankaner.

The grassland interspersed with woods is the natural habitat of the big antelope. Other animals in the Sanctuary include the wolf, jackal, hyena, common fox, and blue bull. The sanctuary is also home to  more than 130 species of birds. Partridge, common peafowl, ring dove, large gray babbler, purple sunbird, yellow throated sparrow are indigenous varieties of birds inhabiting this area.
