    Woodcraft in Bastar is a beautiful and unique form of art that was mastered by the Bastar tribals and sold in different parts of India as well as in some foreign countries. The artists use teak wood, Indian Rosewood, whitewood and other fine woods to create various craft items.

  • Dhokra

    A popular craft, it is usually practiced in Bastar and Raigarh districts of Chhattisgarh. Tribal artisans of the region craft bell metal handicrafts using brass and bronze with hollow casting and wax technique.

  • Gond Printing

    The recorded history of the Gond people go back 1400 years or probably dates back even further. The work of Gond artists is rooted in their folk tales and culture, and thus story-telling is a strong element of every painting. A dominant art in Chhattisgarh, Gonds paint their walls with vibrant depictions of local flora, fauna and gods such as Marahi Devi and Phulvari Devi (Goddess Kali).

  • Kosa Silk

    Kosa silk is obtained from an Indian silkworm Antheraeamylitta and is a variety of Tussar silk. It is drawn out of cocoons which are especially grown on specific trees known as Arjun, Saja and Sal. Known for its sturdiness, Kosa is a preferred choice of silk in the state of Chhattisgarh.
