The ancient capital of Sikkim, Yuksum is famous for offering the best trekking start-off point for high altitude trekking. The term 'Yuksum' literally means 'the meeting place of three Lamas'. Close by, the coronation throne made of stone for the first Chogyal (monarch) still evokes a sense of a royalty's presence.
Yuksum is also home to the Dubdi Monastery, which is the oldest monastery (300 years old) of West Sikkim. The sacred Kartok Lake and the magnificent 'Phamrong' waterfalls are other unmissable attractions in West Sikkim.
