  • Kadhi Pakora


    Deep fried gram flour pakodas filled with onion fritters dipped in creamy curry made from sour yogurt is relished with plain rice or a flat bred of choice. The gravy delicacy has a hot, tangy and spicy flavor. It is served as a main course dish during lunch or dinner in many restaurants and hotels also.

  • Kheer


    The sweet rice pudding is the soul food of Haryana. It preparation includes milk, rice, sugar, cardamoms, raisins and nuts. This dessert can be relished hot and cold depending on the choice and taste of an individual.

  • Lassi


    It is an instant summer cooler. Lassi made from yoghurt is a popular drink, almost a meal in itself. The cool and creamy drink is made from yogurt, sugar and spices. The Haryanvi people's love for lassi can be gauged from the fact that 'thandai', a sweet, milk based drink is called 'kachi lassi' in Haryana.

  • Mithe Chawal


    Mithe Chawal or sweet rice is a dessert prepared with ghee (clarified butter). Its main ingredients include Basmati rice, sugar, ghee, saffron, cardamom and dry fruits like almonds, cashews, pistachios and raisins. This sweet delicacy is eaten hot and fresh.

  • Rotis or flat breads


    The 'Land of Rotis' is an apt title for Haryana, as people are fond of eating different kinds of rotis (breads) here. Wheat rotis are common and so are 'baajre ki roti' (flat bread of pearl millets). Rotis made from a flour of wheat, gram and barley are a truly nutritious and healthy combination with any side or main vegetable dish. Rotis are also made from gochini atta, blend of wheat and gram flour.
