Kallara

KALLARA

There is an abundance of screw pine plants in this locality. The shaft of the plant is used for weaving table mats, file holders and other decorative items. Bamboo is also being used for these products. The making of bamboo products is now a growing industry.Tourists come to see the backwaters of Ezhumanthuruth, the ancient temples and churches, the crisscrossing canals and the paddy fields. The waterways, once used for the transportation of goods from Alappuzha to Kaduthuruthy, now connect the village to other places of tourist importance, like Kumarakom in the South. As such, a houseboat journey to the place is a great way to enjoy the scenic beauty on either bank of the lake.
