Tiruchengode is a city in Namakkal District of Tamil Nadu. The place is most famous for the Arthanareeswarar Temple. This ancient hill temple is believed to have been built about 2000 years ago. The presiding deity here is in a half male and half female form (Shiv and Parvati), which is the reason it is called Arthanareeswarar. It is situated on a hilltop and the presiding deity here is also known as Madhorubagan and Ammayappan. To reach this temple one needs to climb 1206 stone steps.
