Manjeri is an important town for  trade and commerce in Malappuram district . It also has a glorious history . Manjeri was once the headquarters of the former administrators of Mysore, it also was a famous site of the Moplah Revolt of 1921 and the birthplace of legendary freedom fighters like Variamkunnath Kunjahammed Haji.    In Manjeri also lies the revered holy site of Kunnathambalam a beautiful temple   on a hillock, with some of the most stunning views in the entire district. Goddess Durga is the primary deity here, and its annual 7 day festival of Manjeri Pooram draws in huge crowds.
