Vypin Island is sprawled over an area of 25 Km. It located about 5 km from Ernakulam. The island is always throbbing with tourists and locals because it links Kochi by a series of bridges called Goshree bridges touching other two islands Mulavukadu and Vallarpadam.. The backwaters nearby are an added charm, as are the paddy fields and coconut groves on the way to the beach, where kite festivals are occasionally held. Cherai Beach, about 26 km from Kochi, lies to the north of the Vypin Islands. The drive to the beach along roads flanked by low-lying paddy fields is a delightful experience. The beautiful beach has calm waters perfect for swimming. The charm of the popular getaway is the frequent appearance of dolphins in the waters near the beach.
