It is a memorial stone which was built in the memory of Lachit Borphukan, the greatest ever Ahom General who defeated the mighty Mughals at Saraighat in 1672. This great warrior is always honored by the people of Assam for his efforts to liberate them from the shackles of Mughal rulers. He died a year after the victory and his remains were laid in this maidan by Swargadeo Udayaditya Singha. The memorial is located at Gohain Gaon of Meleng-Hulungapar. It is located 8 km from the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary.
