Qutub Shahi Tombs

Planned and built by the Qutub Shahis themselves, these tombs are said to be the oldest historical monuments in Hyderabad. 21 magnificent domed granite tombs, with almost as many mosques, sit serenely in landscaped gardens; the tombs are built in Persian, Pathan, and Hindu architectural styles using gray granite, with stucco ornamentation. Qutub Shahi Tombs are one of its kinds in the world where an entire dynasty has been buried at one place. Among the finest is that of Mohammed Quli, the founder of Hyderabad, standing 42m tall on a platform near the edge of the complex, with views back towards Golconda.
