Celebrated in the Phyang Monastery in Ladakh, about 20 km from Leh, this festival is dedicated to JigtenGombo, the founder of Dringumpa Monastic Dynasty. During the festivities, people dress up in traditional clothes. Lamas clad in vibrant attires or rich silk costumes are a highlight as they play different characters in dance-dramas (chham) performed by them. Many messages of Lord Buddha are displayed in the festival and exhibitions of Buddhist artefacts are set up.
