Home to a fort believed to have been built in 1460 AD, Purani Basti is protected by two ponds: the Budha Talaab and the Maharajband Talaab. Kalchuri king Banyar Singh is believed to have built a haveli in the Budha Talaab. A stone inscription found inside the old fort has proven that it was created by Haihayavanshi rulers.

A window into the rich heritage of Chhattisgarh, the Mahant Ghasi Memorial Museum is located opposite the Collectorate's Office. It is believed to have been established by queen Jyoti Devi of Rajnandgaon and houses fascinating artefacts, intricately crafted idols, ancient stone inscriptions and rare coins.

A majestic colonial structure inaugurated in 1887, the Town Hall was formerly known as the Victoria Jubilee Hall. It is located adjoining the Collectorate Bhavan and Shastri Chowk. The magnificent hall has been witness to several important events in India's history. Built using stones brought from Raipur Fort, the Town Hall has been renovated by the state municipal corporation, effectively recreating its former glory.

Founded in Jabalpur by Sir Andrew Fraser, then the Chief Commissioner of C and Berar, in 1882, Rajkumar College is among the premier institutions in the region. The campus, which was built to impart education to children of the zamindars (landlords) and ruling chiefs of the Eastern States, was later shifted to Raipur in 1894. It was transformed into a fully functional residential institution in the city. With a delightful ambience and majestic architecture, gardens and enthralling lighting, it is a popular tourist spot.

Also known as Budha Talaab, Vivekananda Sarovar is the oldest lake in Raipur. It is believed to be dedicated to Budha Dev, a revered tribal deity. The main attraction of the lake is the central island, where the beautiful Nilabh Garden has been created. The latter is home to several butterflies, flowers of different species and various fountains that are illuminated in the evening using colourful lights. The lake also has a 37-ft-high statue of Swami Vivekananda, which has been registered in the Limca Book of Records as the ‘largest model for a statue’.

Inaugurated in 2006 by the then President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Purkhouti Muktangan is an open-air art museum-cum-garden in the Naya Raipur area. Established and developed by the Government of Chhattisgarh with an aim to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state, Purkhouti Muktangan gives visitors a glimpse into the various folk art forms and practices of the state with special focus on tribal culture. On display are artefacts and folk artworks depicting the habitat, folk dances, lifestyles and food habits of the tribal groups in the state.
