The venue of this grand festival is Ochira Parabrahma Temple, in Kollam, Kerala. This festival is unique in the way that no idols are worshipped during it, instead, the whole concept of it revolves around Parabrahma or the universal consciousness. Of particular note, is the mock battle fought between two groups. Accompanied by drum beats, in water-logged fields called padanilam, this battle is the enactment of the historic battle between the erstwhile Kayamkulam and Ambalapuzha kingdoms. The male members of families split into two groups and fight with sticks and muddy water during the enactment. The festival is held on the first two days of Mithunam (mid-June).
