Vemulavada town is thronged by devotees from around the globe, thanks to the famous Shiva temple of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy. Even in the off season, the town is a scene of hectic activity. During Shiva Rathri (February) or Karthika masam (November), devotees throng to this temple. The temple has its history rooted in the era of the great Vemulawada Chalukyas. The place is also very closely associated with the 11th Century Telugu poet, Vemulawada Bheemakavi.
