Located at Bhuvanagiri village in Pune district of Maharashtra, Bhimashankaram, or Bhimashankar as it generally referred to, is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlinga sites. Located in the Sahyadri hills amidst the breathtaking landscape of vast stretches of dense forests, and the gushing waters of the Bhima River, the sacred place is haven of peace and tranquility.

Built by Nana Phadnis, an eminent statesman of the Peshwas, this beautiful Shiva Temple is a fine example of Nagara style. The wooden entrance of the temple is beautifully carved. On Mahashivratri day, a special religious fair is held attracting over 20,000 devotees. Other places of interest in Bhimashankaram are Bombay Point, Gupta Bhimashankar: the origin of Bhima River, Hanuman Tank and Nagphani Point.
