INDIA -  PARTNER COUNTRY AT ITB 2007

 

From 6th to 11th March 2007, at one of the world’s largest travel trade show taking place in Berlin, the focus will be on its partner country – India. The Partner Country at ITB is the focus of 5-6 million people for one week and can reach out to the largest audience – travel industry representatives, decision makers, press and potential travellers.

As a principal destination for business travelers and tourists, India has established a firm place in world tourism. Due to the country’s political stability, its strong economy and an increasingly favourable business and investment climate, the growth prospects for the country in the sphere of tourism are substantial. ITB Berlin will provide the ideal platform for showcasing the country’s unique tourism products and promoting India as a preferred tourist destination.

 Opening Ceremony and Reception hosted by “Incredible India

The cultural programme at the Opening Ceremony of ITB 2007 will present a unique blend of India’s classical and folk dance forms as well as an audio visual presentation and a fashion show by Ritu Kumar - “Tree of Life” .

  • “Tree of Life” showcasing Indian art & craft in a contemporary manner
  • Cultural performance with a fusion performance of folk and classical dance forms—Langas & Mangiars, Kathak, Dera, Ras & Garba, Gotipua, Ghummar & Giddha, Puncholam, Mohini Attam, Kathakali, Bhangra, Siddidhamal

Cuisine at Opening Reception presented by leading hospitality chains of India

  • Indian Desserts

India Pavilion at ITB 2007
India Pavilion in Hall 5.2b in an area of 870 sq. mtrs. with participation of 20 State Governments / Union Territories, Air India, Indian Railways and over 50 Private Sector representatives as co-exhibitors.
The India Pavilion will reflect the theme “Colours of India” and will strengthen and further position the brand line “Incredible India”.

 

Activities in the India Pavilion will include :

  • Cultural performances
  • Demonstration of Ayurveda
  • Astrologers
  • Demonstrations by Artisans and Craftspersons
  • Application of Henna
  • Distribution of   colourful Bindis and Bangles
  • “Happy Hours” from 1730 to 1800 hrs.

The Indiatourism Press Conference will be held at 3 p.m. on 8th March 2007.

 INCREDIBLE INDIA EXPERIENCES AT ITB 2007

India – Once and Now” – A Photo Exhibition in Hall 19 from 7th to 11th March 2007.

7th  March 2007  (Wednesday)

1100 to 1130 hrs. :  Opening of the ITB Cultural and Book Stage in Hall 19. “Pung-Cholam” – A performance by drummers from the  state of Manipur in the North-Eastern Region of India.
1130 to 1200 hrs. :  “Mountaineering, Trekking and Skiing in the Indian
Himalayas” at the ITB Adventure & Youth Travel Stage in Hall 4.1  
1230 to 1300 hrs. :  “Langas” - Folk Music from the colourful state of Rajasthan in Hall 19 
1345 to 1415  hrs. :  “Wellness through Ayurveda” by Dr. Venu Vasudevan, Secretary (Tourism), Kerala at the Wellness Stage in Hall 16
1530 to 1600 hrs. :  “Bhangra” – a robust and rhythmic dance performance from the state of Punjab in North India in Hall 19
   

8th  March 2007  (Thursday)

1230 to 1300  hrs. :  Medical and Wellness Tourism in India by Dr. Issac Mathai, Medical Director, International Holistic Centre and Mr. Sanjay Rai, Director, Max Hospital at the Wellness Stage in Hall 16
1230 to 1300 hrs. :  Folk Dance Performance – “Bihu” from Assam in the North- Eastern Region of India in Hall 19    
1300 to 1345 hrs. :  “The Business Travel Market in India – Perspectives and Growing Potential” presented by Mr. Werner Heesen, General Manager, Lufthansa German Airlines, New Delhi and Mr. Ashwini Kakkar, Executive Vice President, Mercury Travels at the ITB Business Travel Days Seminar in Hall 7.1a
1315 to 1345 hrs. :   “ Indian Jeep Safaris and Mountain Biking” in Hall 4.1
1530 to 1600 hrs. :   “Raas” - Folk Dance performed with sticks, from the State of Gujarat in the Western Region of India in Hall 19
   

9th March 2007 (Friday)

1200 to 1230 hrs. :  “Wildlife Safaris and Bird Watching in India” in Hall 4.1
1230 to 1300 hrs. :  Ayurveda Demonstration by the Amatrra Spa at the Wellness Stage in Hall 16
1500 to 1530 hrs. : A Fusion of Folk Dances and Music  from the States of Assam, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Manipur in Hall 19.

10th March 2007 (Saturday)

1045 to 1115  hrs. :  Presentation by Samir Patel, Taj Spas at the Wellness
   Stage in Hall 16.
1330 to 1400 hrs. :  “Odissi” – A Classical Indian Dance Performance by
   Gudrun Martins in Hall 19 
1430 to 1500 hrs. : “Angling and Camel & Horse Safaris in India” in Hall 4.1
1700 to 1800 hrs. : ITB Book Awards 2007 in Hall 19 with a rhythmic and
   colourful performance of Folk Dances of India

11th March  (Sunday)

1130 to 1200 hrs. : “Scuba Diving & River Rafting in India” in Hall 4.1
1345 to 1415  hrs. :   Presentation by Samir Patel, Taj Spas at the Wellness Stage in Hall 16
